Galip AR is an augmented reality experience designed for the exhibiting the archive photos of the deceased documentary photographer Galip. He was commisioned for many newspapers and workers syndicates where his photography remained as the sole proof of those meetings, after the official archives were destroyed after the 1980 coup in Turkey. My goal was to spread his work in virtual space where it could exist in a “safe” reality away from the menace of conservatism and structural oppression.
Designed in Unity the app would detect the collage made of the suicide note of Galip. Once detected, the photos would scatter around the room and surround the exhibition visitors.
